Rodrigo Luff is an Australian artist based in Los Angeles. He creates ethereal figurative works of women in beautiful dreamlike settings and explores a feeling of the otherworldly in his paintings and drawings. His first solo show "Anima" opened at Phone Booth Gallery, LA in April, 2011 and the second was "The Moleskine Project" which sold out completely at Spoke Art, SF in May 2011. His three most recent solo shows, "Aurora" (2013), "Nemeta" (2016) and "Afterglow" (2019) have shown at Thinkspace Gallery in LA. Luff started The Moleskine Project in 2011 at Spoke Art Gallery San Francisco. Since then, it has become an annual exhibition that he co-curates with gallery owner Ken Harman. Featuring artists from around the world, this format driven exhibition spans various artistic styles and mediums, delving into the artists sketchbook. Spoke Art has also published three volumes of art from the Moleskine Project collecting various artwork from the group exhibitions, available here Luff explains that, “the show is a tribute to how artists have developed and grown by using sketchbooks to dive deeper into the personal realms that fuel their artwork, exploring new ideas, concepts and even experimenting with different media and styles. An energetic visual dialogue of imagery flows from frame to frame, forming a collective sketchbook that allows us to appreciate the radically individual approach taken by each artist.” |
